What is Patchsynth? Patchsynth is an iPhone/iPad modular synthesizer, inspired by Eurorack-style hardware. You build sounds by dragging patch cables between modules — oscillators, filters, envelopes, sequencers, effects, and more — instead of programming a fixed synth engine.

How do I get started? From the Home screen, tap New Patch to start from a blank canvas, or Browse Patches for a factory preset. The Lessons section has hands-on, step-by-step tutorials for every module if you're new to modular synthesis.

How do I connect two modules? Drag from any port (input or output) to a compatible port on another module — a cable appears once you release over it. To disconnect, hold your finger on either end of the cable's port for a moment.

Why can't I connect two ports? Ports carry different signal types (Audio, CV, Gate, Trigger) shown by color. Only compatible types can connect — this prevents wiring that wouldn't make sense. The Glossary explains each signal type in more detail.

How do I record a sample? Add a Sampler module, then tap Record (this asks for microphone permission the first time) or Import to bring in an audio file from Files/iCloud. Drag the waveform's handles to trim the sample, and use Preview to hear it without needing a trigger connected.

Can I use a MIDI controller? Yes — pair a Bluetooth or USB MIDI keyboard and it plays through any Keyboard module already in your patch, exactly like the on-screen keys.

How do I save my own patches? Use Save Patch As… in the "…" menu. Saved patches show up under the My Patches tab in the Patch Browser, alongside the built-in factory presets.

What are Lessons, Challenges, and the Glossary? Lessons are hands-on tutorials covering every module. Challenges are ear-training: you hear a hidden patch and have to rebuild it yourself. The Glossary is a reference for synthesis fundamentals, with a live picture of each module's ports and knobs.

Does the app work offline? Yes — Patchsynth works entirely offline. No internet connection is required or used for anything in the app.
