What is Consolewright?
An app for building your own MIDI controller: drag faders, knobs, pads, XY pads, a keyboard and a step sequencer onto a canvas, wire each one to the CC, note or program change you want, and send MIDI to a DAW or any MIDI gear.
How do I connect it to my DAW?
Over USB, Wi-Fi (Network MIDI), Bluetooth MIDI, or as a virtual MIDI source other apps on the same device can pick up. Settings → Output Destinations lists what's available; turn on the one you want to send to.
My controls don't send anything.
Confirm a destination is switched on under Settings → Output Destinations — Consolewright only sends to destinations you've turned on. If a device isn't listed, tap Refresh.
A fader or knob moves the wrong way.
Open that control's MIDI Assignment and turn on Invert direction, or swap Min/Max on the DAW's side of the mapping.
Can I send a controller to someone who doesn't have the app?
Yes — long-press a layout in Layouts and choose Export as Web Controller. It creates a single .html file that opens in Chrome, Edge or Opera on a Mac, PC or Android device, no install needed. It can't send MIDI from Safari or from any browser on iPhone/iPad — those need the app itself.
Buttons flip on and off by themselves, or a fader drifts.
Almost always a feedback loop: your DAW's own output is being routed back into its input. Use a separate bus or network session for each direction — see the Troubleshooting guide in-app for exact steps.
Consolewright collects no personal data and requires no account. There is no server: every layout you build is stored locally on your device, and MIDI messages travel directly over USB, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth to the destination you choose — never through us, because we don't have any servers to route them through.
The app requests access to your local network and to Bluetooth solely to discover and connect to MIDI destinations you choose to use (for example, a Mac running Audio MIDI Setup, or a Bluetooth MIDI controller). Neither is used to identify you, track your location, or communicate with anything beyond the devices you explicitly connect to.
Consolewright includes no analytics, no crash-reporting frameworks, and no advertising identifiers. If you use Export, Share as Link, or Export as Web Controller, the resulting file or link contains the controller layout you built (its controls, labels and MIDI assignments) — your own design data, shared only when and with whomever you choose to send it to.
