How do I play a chord?
Tap any of the 7 pads. Chordwright generates a full chord voicing for that scale degree automatically — the same pad can vary slightly each time you tap it.
What's the difference between Key On and Key Off?
Key On picks each pad's chord quality automatically from the current scale. Key Off lets you force every pad to Diminished, Minor, Major, or Sus using the Quality picker, regardless of scale.
How do I glide between chords?
Hold a pad and drag your finger into a neighboring pad without lifting — the chord (and the bass note) slides smoothly into the new one.
What does dragging up from a pad do?
It sweeps whichever knob is set as the Mod Target (Filter, Ambience, Decay, or Bass) upward while you hold, snapping back on release.
Can I layer more than one synth engine?
Yes — tap multiple engines in the Engines row (Sub, FM, Reed, Square, Bell, Pluck) and they all sound together on every chord, not one at a time.
What do Arp / Strum / Slop / Sustain do?
Sustain holds the chord steady. Arp cycles through its notes at the current Tempo. Strum staggers the notes low-to-high like a guitar strum. Slop staggers them with a little random timing.
How do I save my own sound?
Tap the patch name pill under the app title, then use the Save field in the Patches sheet. Your saved patches appear alongside the factory presets.
Does it work with a MIDI controller?
Yes — Chordwright auto-connects to any available MIDI input (USB, Bluetooth, or virtual) and maps incoming notes to the nearest pad.
How do I record a loop?
Tap the record button, then play pads — Chordwright records a 16-step loop you can play back, and clear with the trash icon.
Chordwright does not collect any personal data, does not require an account, and does not connect to the internet. All chord generation and audio processing happens entirely on-device.
