Frequently Asked Questions

What is Audio IQ?
An ear-training app built for audio engineers. You practice recognizing EQ moves, compression, distortion, reverb, delay, phase issues, limiting, saturation, loudness differences, and codec artifacts — all on real recordings, not synthesized test tones.

What are Practice and Lessons?
Practice is a multiple-choice quiz per module: you hear an Original and a Processed version of a loop and pick what changed. Lessons are free-play labs — the same 11 modules, but with live sliders and knobs so you can explore each effect at your own pace before (or after) quizzing yourself.

Where do the audio loops come from?
Every loop is a real recording sourced from Wikimedia Commons, spanning dozens of genres, all under licenses that permit commercial use (mostly CC0 or public domain). The small number that require attribution are credited in-app under Settings → Audio credits.

How does Difficulty work?
Set it once in Settings and it applies to every module — Beginner contrasts easy-to-tell-apart choices, Advanced narrows the gaps between them (closer frequencies, closer compression amounts, and so on).

Does my progress sync across devices?
Progress, streaks, and settings are stored locally on your device only — there's no account and nothing syncs to a server.

How do I reset my progress?
Settings → Reset progress lets you clear a single module or everything at once.

Privacy

Audio IQ does not collect any personal data, does not require an account, and does not connect to the internet for core functionality. All quiz logic and audio processing happen entirely on-device. The only optional feature that requests a system permission is the daily practice reminder, which uses local notifications and never leaves your device.
