What does ArcadePad do?
A grid of arcade-style pads you record or import samples into and trigger by tapping. Each pad has its own playback mode (one-shot, loop, reverse), pitch, volume, and effects (filter, delay, reverb, bitcrush). Includes a step sequencer to build patterns, a performance joystick for live FX, and a library of ready-to-use starter kits.
How do I record a sample?
Tap an empty pad and choose a source: the microphone, a connected line/USB input, or System Audio (captures audio playing in another app via iOS's screen-broadcast picker).
What is System Audio recording?
It uses Apple's ReplayKit broadcast picker to capture audio from other apps on your device — the same mechanism used for screen recording. A system status indicator is shown while it's active, and you start/stop it yourself. Only capture audio you have the rights to use.
Can I split one long recording across several pads?
Yes. After recording, use Split Across Pads to divide it evenly, by auto-detected transients, or by hand-picked boundaries.
Can I share a kit with someone who doesn't have the app?
Yes. Share Kit uploads your kit's samples to our hosting so anyone with the link can try the pads in a browser — no install needed. This requires an internet connection and is entirely optional. Links expire after 7 days. Only share samples you have the rights to.
Can I export a sequenced pattern as audio?
Yes. In the sequencer, Export renders your pattern (with as many loop repeats as you choose) to an audio file you can share or save.
Is my progress saved?
Yes, all kits and recordings are stored locally on your device. Nothing is uploaded unless you explicitly use Share Kit.
What languages are supported?
English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Chinese (Simplified), and Korean.
ArcadePad does not require an account and does not use ads, analytics, or trackers. Recordings, kits, and settings are stored locally on your device.
The microphone and System Audio capture are used only when you start a recording, and only to create the sample you're recording — audio is never sent anywhere unless you explicitly use Share Kit to publish a kit.
If you use Share Kit, the samples in that kit and a small config file are uploaded to our storage provider (Supabase) so the public link can play them in a browser. That link and its files are automatically taken out of use after 7 days. No personal data is collected as part of sharing — the link itself is not tied to your identity.
